Warriors Watch Recovery Alliance was not created as a concept—it was built from lived experience, deep conviction, and a clear understanding of the gaps that exist in care for those who serve.
Our founders come from backgrounds rooted in service, leadership, and real-world exposure to the challenges faced by veterans, first responders, and active-duty military. Through firsthand experience, they have seen the cost of untreated trauma, the weight of stigma, and the barriers that prevent too many from seeking help.
They also recognized a critical failure in the current system: too often, those who dedicate their lives to protecting others are forced to choose between getting help and protecting their careers, reputations, and identities.
Warriors Watch was built to eliminate that choice.
From day one, the vision was clear—to create a program that operates outside the limitations of traditional systems. By remaining fully donor-funded and independent from insurance carriers, Warriors Watch provides something that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere:
true confidentiality, complete discretion, and care without compromise.
This independence allows the organization to focus entirely on the individual—not paperwork, not billing codes, and not institutional restrictions.
The foundation of Warriors Watch is not theory—it is trust.
Trust that those who walk through the doors will be met with respect, not judgment.
Trust that their privacy will be protected without exception.
Trust that they are surrounded by people who understand the unique weight of service.
This trust is what allows real healing to begin.
The founders did not set out to simply create another treatment program. Their goal was to build something that could redefine how care is delivered to this community—not just in Arizona, but across the country.
Warriors Watch is designed to grow into a national model—one that sets a new standard for how we support those who have given so much in service to others.
Every decision made by the founders is guided by one principle:
Those who serve deserve a place where they can heal without fear.
Warriors Watch exists to be that place.
Rick Shuttleton is the founder of Warriors Watch Recovery Alliance and a former United States Marine whose life and work have been shaped by a deep commitment to service, discipline, and accountability. Following his time in the military, Rick built and scaled multiple businesses, including a licensed general contracting company, gaining extensive experience in operations, leadership, and systems development.
Through both personal experience and close relationships within the veteran and first responder communities, Rick developed a clear understanding of the challenges surrounding mental health and substance use—particularly the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help. He recognized that for many, the fear of exposure, career impact, and stigma outweighs the willingness to pursue treatment.
Warriors Watch was built to solve that problem.
Rick’s vision for the organization is rooted in one core principle: those who serve should never have to choose between getting help and protecting their future. By structuring the program to be fully donor-funded and independent of insurance systems, he has created a model that prioritizes confidentiality, discretion, and individualized care above all else.
As the driving force behind Warriors Watch, Rick continues to lead the organization with a focus on operational excellence, scalability, and long-term impact—working to establish a new national standard for how veterans and first responders access care.
Amanda’s commitment to supporting those who serve our communities and our country is rooted in more than two decades of experience in healthcare, leadership, and advocacy.
She began her career in healthcare in her early twenties as a nursing assistant, working directly with patients and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. That early hands-on experience laid the foundation for a career centered around compassion, service, and understanding the human side of care.
Over time, Amanda advanced into leadership roles, including serving as a Community Operations Manager in the geriatric field and later as an Administrator in behavioral health. In these roles, she supported individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges, gaining a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding recovery and the critical importance of accessible, compassionate support systems.
Throughout her career, Amanda has consistently been drawn to advocating for those who dedicate their lives to serving others—first responders, active-duty military, and veterans.
Through both her professional work and volunteer efforts, she has had countless conversations with individuals across these communities. One message has remained consistent:
The stigma is real.
Many who speak up about mental health challenges, stress, or the toll of their work are often met with a culture that says “deal with it or leave.” This reality creates a dangerous barrier—one that prevents many from seeking the support they need.
These experiences reinforced what Amanda had already witnessed throughout her healthcare career: there is a critical gap in care. One that requires trusted, confidential support outside of traditional systems.
That understanding became a driving force behind the creation of Warriors Watch Recovery Alliance.
Warriors Watch is built to provide a space where first responders, active-duty military, and veterans can access support and recovery without stigma, without fear, and without concern for career impact. It is designed to be a place where confidentiality is protected, dignity is restored, and real healing can begin.
For Amanda, this work is deeply personal.
She believes that caring for those who serve is not just important—it is essential.
Her goal is simple:
"to ensure that those who dedicate their lives to protecting others have a place to turn when they need support themselves."
